As night approaches RAAM rookie Pierre Bischoff (Germany) remains in the lead of the solo men’s under 50 age category. While the young RAAM rookie says he’s only riding his planned pace that’s been enough for him to stretch his lead over second place Marko Baloh from the 32-mile advantage he held this morning to a current lead of 46 miles.
Bischoff suffered a broken clavicle and rib just six weeks ago and is riding with a titanium pin and six titanium screws in his shoulder. “Yeah, I have pain. But not so much,” he said this morning in Monument Valley. He’s currently stopped just outside of Durango, Colorado changing into warmer clothes in preparation for the cool mountain temperatures he'll endure through the night.
